Bequin were able to kick off their ambitious project in March 2024 to develop a bio material made in India, with the support of UAL Fashion Technology and Textiles Catalyst R&D Grant Scheme.

We spent 6 months developing our first prototypes, in close collaboration between The Stitch Archive, Botto Labs, and Vashishtha Luxury Fashion Ltd, and mentored by the fantastic team at UAL. We created a range of plastic-alternative materials and embroidered samples, to showcase the 3D capabilities of the materials, using both hand cutting and laser cutting.
