The majority of sequins and other embroidery elements currently being used in the luxury fashion industry are made from plastic and petroleum based. Their small size and application makes recycling nearly impossible.

We are passionate about providing brands with a bio based, biodegradable alternative, produced sustainably, which can seamlessly be integrated into design and supply chains. As designers ourselves, we understand that brands do not wish to compromise on colours, finishes, shine, and customisability.

Project Bequin - Our Mission

  • Environmental

    - Centralising all manufacture of Bequin within India, to reduce carbon emissions.

    - Working with ocean bio-abundant resources and by-products of fishing trade in Goa, for raw materials procurement.

    - Creating a fully compostable sheet material.

    - Working with local & rural Indian communities for materials procurement as a means of tackling waste management and providing revenue.

    - Using low-tech manufacture processes to enable Indian local communities a chance to be involved and generate ongoing alternate revenue streams.

    - Providing training opportunities within India for young, female scientists.

    - Using the journey of Bequin to instruct and inspire the next generation of textile and fashion designers by engaging directly with university students via The Stitch Archive.
